About Kappa Rho
Western Michigan University
Alpha Omicron Pi is a lifelong experience bound by ties of friendship with wonderful members that I have the honor to call my sisters. AOII offers opportunities for members to learn, lead, and grow not only as an active member in AOII, but to carry these goals into the collegiate community and beyond. In 1897, our founders Stella, Helen, Jessie, and Bess were unsatisfied with their collegiate experience during their time at Barnard College of Columbia University, and decided to create a fraternity based on their values: character, dignity, scholarship, and college loyalty. From this point forward, their innovations have given women around the country an opportunity to inspire ambition and learn the various ways to serve their community as a member of AOII. As a leader of Alpha Omicron Pi, I have had the opportunity to strengthen the bonds of our sisterhood as our Vice President of Chapter Development. Sisterhood led me to find my passion for leading others, to become someone my sisters could rely on to uphold our values. Through the support of my sisters, I continued my leadership in AOII as Chapter President. Through AOII, I am able to recognize my potential through leading others, creating a space in Kappa Rho for my sisters to learn and grow as mature women in society. As a member of Alpha Omicron Pi, it is important to recognize that you are never alone in the presence of your sisters. Sisters in AOII support one another during times of success, and times of trouble. Sisterhood brought me the opportunity to lead, but I recognize that I am never alone when leading my sisters. As members of Alpha Omicron Pi, we hold our values true and serve our community with the bonds of sisterhood guaranteed to last a lifetime. My hope is for sisters everywhere to find the opportunity to grow and prosper with the support of fellow sisters, just as I have found here in Alpha Omicron Pi.Our Submotto
A submotto reflects the unique spirit and values of each AOII chapter, chosen by its founding members to represent their collective aspirations and culture. It serves as a guiding principle for chapter activities, relationships, and how members engage with one another and the broader community.

AOII VALUES & ENDS
Values
“The object of this Fraternity shall be to encourage a spirit of Fraternity and love among its members; to stand at all times for character, dignity, scholarship, and college loyalty; to strive for and support the best interests of the colleges and universities in which chapters are installed, and in no way to disregard, injure, or sacrifice those interests for the sake of prestige or advancement of the Fraternity or any of its chapters.”
As expressed in the Object of the Fraternity, Alpha Omicron Pi was founded on the ideals of character, dignity, scholarship, and college loyalty. All members of the Fraternity, collegiate and alumnae, are expected to live these values to the fullest and carry the spirit of AOII into the world around them.
CHARACTER & DIGNITY
Whether you meet an AOII in class, throughout recruitment, off campus, or even after graduation, she is sure to bring light to your life. Members of the Fraternity are called to carry themselves with confidence as they represent our organization and treat everyone they meet with the utmost respect.
SCHOLARSHIP
AOII encourages all members to excel academically and has many programs designed to assist women in achieving their academic goals. Expectations are high but the support provided by scholarship programs, academic development officer resources, and fellow members makes success attainable. The emphasis on these pursuits was instilled by the four founding members of AOII in 1897, and this commitment remains a strong part of AOII today.
COLLEGE LOYALTY
Members of AOII are called to not only serve their chapters and the Fraternity as a whole, but also to be of service to their communities and universities. Whether they are raising money for a local philanthropic cause or spending time cleaning up a neighborhood park, serving as Student Government President or directing a college Panhellenic Executive Board, our members are excelling as leaders on their college campuses and far beyond.
